Sacramento Business Forum LinkedIn Group
To help get the ball rolling, I've just set up a Sacramento Business Forum Group on LinkedIn.
Of all the social networking sites out there that aren't dedicated to a specific locale, LinkedIn is probably the single best site for those who are looking for a community to help them promote a career or a business.
Many of the other social networking sites are more like clubs or high school cliques, but LinkedIn has two features that make it more appropriate for business and professional networking. First, the LinkedIn profile is organized much the same way a resume is, so creating a complete LinkedIn Profile essentially creates an online resume. Secondly, LinkedIn's "recommendations" allow users to give and request testimonials from people who know them, either as an employee or as a business owner. Sacramento Business Forum has implemented a similar concept in our "Recommend a Business" forum.
One of the features I don't like about LinkedIn is that there are at least one or two Sacramento business networking groups already up there, neither one of which has responded to a request to be added. Needless to say, I hope to do much better with servicing your request to be added to the group if you send me one -- but if anything goes wrong, please register here and use the contact page to let me know about it.
Also, please feel free to visit me on LinkedIn as well and send me an invitation to connect with you there.
