Sacramento Business Forum

This site has been a labor of love for several weeks as I checked out different software packages it could run on such as PhpBB, vBulletin, and others. I finally decided on Drupal as the way to go here, but I have a lot more to do, both on the development end and on the promotion side.

On the promotion side, naturally the first thing that comes to mind is that we need a lot more business owners than just me, even if I do own two businesses. That's always the difficulty that crops up when you talk about a web forum, of course. To paraphrase an old anti-war movement slogan, "What if they gave a discussion and nobody came?"

On the development side, I need to really work on getting more member list views such as allowing visitors to browse by type of business. Also I need to figure out how the premium memberships (site sponsorships) will work, though a basic membership for participating in most of the forums should be free forever. Another thing I want to look into is making posting here easier. Drupal comes with a lot of built in functionality, but by default, the writing interface is pretty brain dead. So I'll be working on that as well.
